Start where you applied
SNAP applications belong to state agencies, not USDA’s national office or a third-party calculator. Look for the confirmation number and contact details on the official portal or receipt from the agency where you filed.
Watch for requests
A pending status can mean an interview or document is needed. Check mail, portal messages and voicemail. If the office requests proof, note the due date and keep evidence that you sent it.
Ask a useful question
When contacting the office, ask whether the interview was completed, whether any verification is missing and when a notice will be sent. Do not share a case number or Social Security number with this site.
If a decision is late
USDA says routine applications generally receive a decision within 30 days, with faster processing for qualifying urgent cases. Ask your state office about a missed deadline and the remedy available in your case.
