2027 SNAP changes: maximum benefits and income limits

Compare the published federal FY 2027 adjustment with FY 2026.

When the new figures start

The FY 2027 USDA adjustments take effect October 1, 2026. Before that date, FY 2026 amounts remain the current federal table.

Examples in the contiguous states and DC

The one-person maximum increases from $298 to $306 and the four-person maximum from $994 to $1,023. For four people, the basic gross monthly screen rises from $3,483 to $3,575 and the net screen from $2,680 to $2,750.

More than a benefit increase

The federal standard deduction and shelter deduction cap also change. States can set utility allowances and choose other policies, so a real award will not necessarily rise by exactly the change in the maximum.
