A maximum is a ceiling
USDA publishes maximum monthly allotments for each household size. In FY 2026, the maximum is $298 for one person, $546 for two, $785 for three, and $994 for four in the contiguous states and DC. Alaska and Hawaii use separate tables.
Your deposit may be lower
The official formula generally subtracts 30% of countable net income from the maximum. A working family can qualify and still receive much less than the figure at the top of the table.
Why figures change
USDA updates benefit standards each federal fiscal year. The FY 2026 figures run through September 30, 2026. Check the newly published table after that date rather than carrying old figures into a new application.
