Standard processing
USDA says eligible applications are generally processed within 30 days. The clock and your responsibility to complete an interview or provide verification should be explained by the state agency.
Expedited service
Households with very little income or resources and certain urgent circumstances may qualify for faster processing, often within seven days. The agency checks expedited criteria when you apply.
Delays and missing information
Check notices and answer requests promptly. Keep your application confirmation and contact the office if the deadline passes without a decision.
A preliminary estimate is different
An online calculator does not file an application, establish a filing date or guarantee expedited service. The official process begins with the state agency.
