The student rule is separate
A person enrolled at least half time in an institution of higher education may need to meet a student exemption in addition to ordinary SNAP eligibility. Being low income by itself does not answer the student question.
Potential exemptions
Employment, work-study, caring for a dependent and participation in certain programs can matter. Exact conditions should be checked with the state agency, including how it defines and verifies enrollment or participation.
Household and meal plan
The state may ask about who buys and prepares food with the student and whether a campus meal plan covers most meals. Bring enrollment, work and household records.
Ask before self-excluding
Student rules have exceptions and can change. Contact the administering agency rather than assuming that every college student is ineligible.
